International Women's Day

Oi!
I am going to start by letting everyone know that my server has been down since Tuesday morning, so if you have been trying to get on my website or email me, sorry...hopefully it will be back up today sometime.
I might just take today off and celebrate International Women's Day which is on March 8th. Here's a few facts about this wonderful day:

  • The inital stimulus for a Women's Day came from New Zealand in 1893, as they were the first country in the world to give Women the right to vote

  • The first International Women's Day occurred on March 19th, 1911 after Clara Zetkin (Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) proposed the idea of celebrating a "Women's Day" (the year before) to show support for women's demands
  • Word of mouth helped spread International Women's Day across the world (of course we are great at word of mouth right?!)
  • Meetings were organized in towns and villages everywhere...men stayed at home to take care of the kids (Freedom at Last!)
  • Check out http://www.internationalwomensday.com/ for more great info
